I apologize for the lateness of this post. MRV has been doing many fun things with our guests. We have many early arrivals due to weather up North etc. It is great to be able to share our many activities.
On Nov 11, we celebrated Veterans Day with an indoor picnic to honor those brave men and women who have been so willing to serve in defense of their countries, A $1.00 donation per person was taken and a total of $128 will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. We had 80 people in attendance for hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, chips, baked beans and beverage.
On Nov. 21 we served 64 for a delicious meat loaf dinner prepared by our busy kitchen crew. Our snack bar has also opened for our guests from 11:00 -1:00 and again from 4:30 – 6:30 Monday thru Friday. Our pizzas are selling fast and are available for order by phone 7 days a week from 11:00 -7:00. If you have never had our pizzas you are missing a really good treat.
On 11/26 we had our traditional Thanksgiving feast with 84 in attendance. Once again our kitchen outdid themselves. The food was excellent and the fellowship warm and welcoming.
Our activities are in full swing now and being well attended.
On 12/7 we held an informational meeting for all within the park with wonderful home baked cookies by Phyllis. The schedule of activities and events was made available. The news letter from our Manager follows:
Welcome to MRV Resort for this season. Carol and I hope you can get some sun and enjoy yourselves.
There are a couple changes to tell you about. First, we will not be having a weekly Monday morning meeting as we did last year. We will be supplying you with a monthly activities calendar, as well as keeping the activities calendar posted inside both clubhouses and on the outside bulletin board. If there are changes, they will be on the website and posted on the bulletin board. Secondly, we have put in place where all guest, visitor and outside vendors need to stop in the office to register before entering our park. You will be notified and you will need to pick them up so that we do not park on other people’s sites nor block the road because of emergencies.
Carol and I believe that this year will be the best ever for you while at MRV Resort. We will help you in any way we can to make this happen.
We thank you for your patience and for being with us.
On 12/9 the Moore Haven Jr/Sr High School presented a wonderful holiday program for us. The kids, ages ranging from 6th grade thru 12th grade, sang and did beautiful choreography to some well known and not so well known Christmas songs. The vocal music was exceptional. You could tell that the kids were all enjoying what they were doing. There were many costume changes by some students thruout the performance. What a wonderful way to start the Christmas season.
On 12/12 which is this Saturday, we will have a Cookie Bake. Each participant is to bring their dough and recipe and have a group baking. What a fun way to spend the morning and be able to go home with different kinds of cookies. Then that same evening we will have a Spaghetti/Cincinnati Chili dinner with all the fixings.
There will be a Christmas Eve service on the 24th in the back clubhouse with entertainment and refreshments to follow in the main clubhouse.
On 12/25 a traditional Christmas dinner will be prepared, with all the sides and desserts that go along with it, and we will all celebrate together. What a glorious season!
To round out the old year and begin the new year in the right spirit, our New Year’s Eve Party will be a really BIG BASH! The band will play great music for your dancing and listening pleasure. Snacks will be furnished thruout the evening and a light buffet will be served at midnight. Must purchase tickets to join in the fun. Tickets are available in the office.
This blog really sounds like what we mostly do is eat, but check our activities calendar for all that goes on at other times. We are a busy, active and very friendly resort.
Hurry down and join us for all the fun. Be safe traveling.
